1. What does STEM mean to you? The United States Postal Service has asked us to create some potential STEM Stamps for future use. Using what you know or think you know about STEM, get creative with your STEM Stamp design. Make sure to creatively include your name as part of your design. (40 Minutes)
2. Getting to know you activities and team building games. (40 Minutes)
Spagetti and Marshmellows Using dry spaghetti noodles and marshmallows, learners work in teams to build a structure taller than the others in 10 minutes.
Getting across the open space. Using spongy clothes, the leader has the cloths and has to throw it out far enough to step one foot. At all times the washcloth must remain with a foot on the cloth. The leader then throws a second cloth and with one foot steps onto it without leaving the first cloth unoccupied. The second player will use one foot to step simultaneously onto the cloth with the first team member as the first team member moves to the second cloth. At each point, there should be two feet on a cloth; one of the person in front and one of the person behind. At no time can a cloth be unoccupied. This continues until all members are across the open space. As the last team member comes across, they are expected to gather the cloths. Again, at no time can a cloth be unoccupied.
Moving a Structure Need 6 plastic cups, one rubber band, string with 4 handles per group. Connect the rubber band to the four strings. Workers are only allowed to manipulate the "string" in order to move the structure from 6 cups three across stacked 2 high to a pyramid stacked 3,2,1.
3. Introduce out STEM Project for the two weeks of Camp!

Cells Brainpop: An introduction to Cells and cell parts. Children will have a worksheet to follow as they watch the video. Following the video, we will take the 10 question quiz as a group.
Start with a tour of the Agriscience Center, green houses, small animal lab, tissue culture room, and biotechnology lab. Students must wear closed shoes for this and for the lab activity.
Split into two groups, Bob Decerbo tells me there are 23 students enrolled and our classrooms and labs are set up for groups of 15, so two smaller groups would be a safer option than one large group.
One group will be with me upstairs for a video/clip on cells and DNA, and then go to the lab for the strawberry DNA extraction activity.
The other group would be with you, either in the multi-purpose room or the floral design lab, downstairs, depending on what type of activity you will be doing with them.
Switch groups after 90 minutes.
Done at 12Noon with Agriscience activity.
12Noon-4:00PM
Students can eat their lunches in the multi-purpose room or outside depending on the day and weather, etc.
Afternoon activity can be either in the multi-purpose room or the floral design lab, depending on what you plan to do with the students. None of the Agriscience teachers will be there in the afternoon.

Microscope Microscope Parts Print out and copy for each student to use prior to showing the microscope movie.

Start with a tour of the Agriscience Farm; visit the llamas, alpacas, sheep, chickens, rabbits, and horses. Students must wear closed shoes for this and for the lab activity.
Split into two groups for laboratory activity, one group will be with me upstairs for the microscope lab, video clip/diagram/practice/make their own slides with pond water.
The other group would be with you, either in the multi-purpose room or the floral design lab, downstairs, depending on what type of activity you will be doing with them.
Switch groups after 90 minutes.
Done at 12Noon with Agriscience activity.
